The story belongs to Lansdowne, a town in Uttarakhand, which is 200 km away from Delhi. The story has probably been narrated several times in every household in the town for many decades now. It's the story of a headless ghost.
It is believed, that a headless ghost roams around the town every night on his horse in the cantonment area. Several people, especially the soldiers have reportedly to have heard strange sounds at night. It is said that the Sarkata Bhoot guards the city and is perhaps the reason for less crime in the area. He?careless hits the soldiers who are careless or sleeping on duty.?
It is said that the Sarkata Bhoot is a ghost of a British soldier WH Wardell. Wardell came to India in 1983 and was made the Commanding Officer of Lansdowne Cantt. Between In 1901 and 1002, he was posted in Africa. When the first World War broke out, he was posted in Landsdown. However, he died during World War 1 while he was fighting against Germany in France. His body was never found after his death. People say that because he was posted in India before his death, his?soul still roams around the cantonment even after 100 years.
It is revealed in the post-credit scene that Akshay Kumar plays the Sarkata Bhoot in Stree 2.
