Are you aware how much the plastic is damaging us and our beautiful mother earth? If not, then you definitely need to know that plastic is slowly killing us and it's high time we all stop using plastic for good. Even actor Vivek Oberoi stopped using plastic years ago and he got inspired by his wife Priyanka who is an environmentalist.
Indiatimes visited Vivek Oberoi¡¯s set where he extensively spoke to us about how he is living a plastic-free life and we should STOP using plastic.

"I got a push from my wife to live a plastic-free life, she is an environmentalist, she is very particular about not to use anything that damages the environment. She inspires me a lot to live a plastic-free life.? She encourages us to take jute bags whenever we go shopping in India or abroad. In fact, we have been getting eco-friendly Ganesha idol on Ganesh Chaturthi for the last 12 years. I have been doing beach cleanups for years. But to understand that how a plastic-free life feels like you have to start living like that, it¡¯s difficult but trust me it's worth it."

"Like today the toothbrush which I use is made of recovered plastic. You get everything online these days, I know it's little expensive but it's worth it. We have done lots of things to try not using plastics. Like I don't have any plastic bottles. In my home, we all use metal bottles and slowly we started to adapt things for instance, we don't take plastic bags from the shopkeepers when we buy something. ?In my house, we make an attempt to not bring plastic because once you bring it, it becomes very difficult to dispose it off. ?We don't have segregation in our city as of now. I was impressed with a gentleman called Sarfaraz Khan who is working In Bangalore Municipal Corporation and he is an IAS officer, he has achieved a great amount of segregation,? in fact, Bangalore has more amount of segregation in organic ways which is plastic and non plastic biodegradable way then London city and that has been achieved with 2 or 3 years span of time by one man who's determined to do it."

"I feel it's possible in Mumbai too.? I love this new plastic ban that our Chief Minister Mr. Devendra Fadnavishas brought out and is being enforced by somebody who I know very well. He is Pradeep Praveen, he is determined to enforce it and I am also participating in that, so we are bringing in this machine that is going to recycle all plastic bottles that are being used.? We are bringing this machine because we don't want all the plastic to land in our beautiful seas and oceans."
?
"It's very disappointing to see how plastic is choking our environment.? Recently, I had taken my kids to Matheran. It's a beautiful place, the first thing they noticed in that place was there was no plastic thrown on the road. We have made them so conscious that even they understand how harmful plastic is for the environment.

"Now I am not saying to live a plastic-free life overnight, it's not possible. The least you can do is use plastic things for a long time, don't make a habit of use and throw, it's wrong. Especially when we use those small water bottles we throw it wherever we want. When we go abroad we become disciplined and follow the rules then what's the problem in doing this small thing in India. I think the next generation will take this as a culture. Like today, we all are talking about Swacch Bharat, so they are aware what we all are up to. I think an awareness is very important and then the incorporation."

"I urge people to stop the habit of use and throw of plastics. Like I said that the small bottles of water that is being sold in the market, people have a habit of buying it and throwing it wherever they want.? We drink little water from that bottle and throw it which is bad.? The government will soon ban those small bottles and will charge a penalty on the usage of it. The problem is we are not aware of what harm plastic is doing to us and our environment. The mentality has to be changed."

"Like recently during the meeting (CM Devendra Fadnavis) of plastic ban, they all were using plastic and were trolled. Now, this troll will bring awareness, you will be trolled if you are doing something wrong no matter what, whether you are a celebrity, politician or Prime Minister. I am sure now, next time they will not use plastic because of the awareness created by the social media."

"I think one has to take a small effort on stopping themselves from using plastic. Like if everyone starts using a metal bottle or a temperature bottle instead of a plastic bottle, one small habit can create a huge impact. Until and unless you don't change that one small habit we will be the greatest polluters on earth after China or United States of America."
Lets all take a pledge to live a plastic free life for our better tomorrow. I am not a plasticolohic, are you?
