Chaitra Navratri Day 1 Maa Shailputri Puja Vidhi And Bhog: It's that festive time of the year again! Chaitra Navratri is celebrated with great pomp and grandeur across the country every year. This festival, observed by the Hindu community, spans nine days and is dedicated to Goddess Durga.
Known as Navratri, meaning "nine nights," each day of the festival is dedicated to one avatar of Goddess Durga. The nine forms of the Goddess are - Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kaalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Chaitra Navratri begins on April 9th and concludes on April 17th this year.
During Chaitra Navratri, devotees worship the various forms of Goddess Durga and observe fasts throughout the day. The first day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Maa Shailputri. "Shail" means mountains, and "putri" means daughter - Maa Shailputri is revered as one of the most divine forms of Goddess Durga. Devotees prepare bhog (offering) with devotion and dedication for Maa Shailputri. Sabudana Khichdi is commonly offered as bhog to Maa Shailputri.
Do's And Don'ts, Foods To Avoid During 9 Days Of Navratri
On the first day of Navratri, Goddess Shailputri is worshipped after Kalash Sthapna. Shailputri, in Sanskrit, is the combination of two words - 'Shail' which means mountains and 'Putri' which means daughter. She is the daughter of the Himalayas and the pictorial depiction of Maa Shailputri shows her holding a trident in her right hand and a lotus flower in her left, with a crescent on her forehead. She is shown sitting on the bull Nandi.
On the 1st day of Navratri 2024 (Prathama), devotees worship Maa Shailputri-the first form of the Hindu goddess Durga. On the first day of Navratri, people do Ghatasthapana or Kalash Sthapana to seek divine blessings from Goddess Durga and decorate their home and worship Goddess Shailputri by following pooja rituals and chant Mantras.
The Puja of all nine avatars of Maa Vaishnodevi will be carried out every day for up to nine days.? On the first day of Navratri, we worship Mata Shailputri.
