In a statement, his family acknowledged his death, saying, "We deeply regret to inform you that our father Delhi Ganesh passed away on November 9th at around 11 PM." His mortal remains have been interred in Ramapuram, Chennai, with his last ceremonies scheduled for November 11.?
With a career spanning four decades, Delhi Ganesh has acted in over 400 films, making him one of Tamil cinema's most beloved performers. Known for his seamless ability to play a wide range of characters, whether as a comedian, villain, or empathetic supporting character, he left a lasting impression on the profession.
Ganesh made his cinema debut in 1976 with Pattina Pravesam, directed by the great K. Balachander, who gave him the stage moniker "Delhi Ganesh."
His big break came in the 1980s when he temporarily played the lead in Engamma Maharani (1981), but it was his extended work as a supporting actor that garnered him enormous fame and admiration.?
Ganesh's contributions to Tamil cinema received widespread recognition. He received the Tamil Nadu State Film Medal Special Prize for his performance in Pasi (1979), and in 1994, then-Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa presented him with the Kalaimamani medal in appreciation of his artistic prowess.
