Eye yoga, or eye exercises, helps you in relaxing your eyes, improving eye health and also helps in reducing eye-strain especially if you work on a computer.
According to Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney, a short 'eye yoga' session could help ease the strain and improve your eyesight. He can be seen showing his eye yoga routine in a video on TikTok.
The singer had visited India in the late 2000s and says the practice has fixed his vision and he doesn't feel the need to wear glasses.?
'We sit at computers or watch TV all day or read books, so you are basically just using one set of muscles,' he says in the video. Some eye yoga exercises involve moving the eyes in different directions or focusing on objects at varying distances, which may help strengthen eye muscles.?
'The idea is in the eyes we have muscles just like everywhere else and we don't use them well enough.'
While eye exercises may improve eye muscle function and reduce strain, there is limited scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness in permanently correcting refractive errors or changing your eye prescription (eye number).
Eye yoga exercises can be beneficial for eye health and reducing strain, they are not proven to correct refractive errors. If you have concerns about your vision or need to adjust your eye prescription, it's best to seek professional advice from an eye care specialist.?
