Charlie Munger, Warren Buffett's business partner for more than five decades, was Vice Chairman of Berkshire and one of its biggest shareholders.?
After Munger passed away on 28 November 2023, Warren Buffett said in a statement, "Berkshire Hathaway could not have been built to its present status without Charlie¡¯s inspiration, wisdom and participation."?
This is what the titan of business, Charlie Munger, himself shared on what made him successful in life (as told to CNBC):?
Charlie Munger wrote on CNBC Make it, "You want to deliver to the world what you would buy if you were on the other end."?
Munger believed that people who followed this ethos in life win not just money and honors but also the respect and the deserved trust of the people they deal with.?
Munger adds, "... there is huge pleasure in life to be obtained from getting deserved trust. Reputation and integrity are your most valuable assets .."
Munger advises against working under people whom you don't like or don't admire. He believes one can enjoy greater satisfaction in their career if they work under people whom they admire.?
"I coped in my time by identifying people I admired and by maneuvering, mostly without criticizing anybody, so that I was usually working under the right sort of people," wrote Munger.?
Munger writes, "I could force myself to be fairly good in a lot of things, but I couldn¡¯t excel in anything in which I didn¡¯t have an intense interest or enjoy."?
In order to really excel in what you are doing, Munger says that one needs to really enjoy the work they are doing and the people they are doing it with.?
Finally, an assiduous attitude is what Munger prescribes, or as he describes it, "Sit down on your ass until you do it."? ? ?
