The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced the results of the CSE 2023 examination. A total of 1,016 candidates (664 men and 352 women) have qualified for the prestigious civil services examination and have been recommended for appointment to various services including IAS, IPS, and IFS.
This is a fraction of the 13 lakh candidates who took the UPSC prelims 2023 exam, and the 14,624 who qualified for the Mains.
Following the announcement of the results on Tuesday, the toppers are continuing to hog the limelight and their achievements are being widely celebrated on social media.
But it is also a heartbreak for thousands of others, who failed to make the cut, despite spending months or years preparing for their dream job.
One such person is Kunal R Virulkar, who despite twelve attempts, has failed to land the coveted job.
In a social media post that has gone viral, Virulkar said that he took the UPSC Civil Service exam a total of 12 times, out of which he made it to the mains seven times and to the interview stage five times.
Yet the engineering graduate has failed to break into the around 1,000 candidates who are chosen by the UPSC every year for posting.
"12 attempts, 7 mains, 5 interviews, NO SELECTION," and concluded with the powerful statement, "Zindagi Ka Dusra Naam Hi Sangharsh Hai," he wrote on X.
The post soon went viral and many including IAS officers appreciated his relentless effort and encouraged him not to give up on his dreams.
"If perseverance had a face," Jitin Yadav IAS, wrote.
"Hard work never goes waste. You will achieve bigger than this. Studying for UPSC or any other exam or even general readings can never be waste of time," Bhisham Singh IPS, wrote.
