But something interesting has taken aplace in Uttar Pradesh and the local officials were left stunned and shocked.
Surprisingly and abruptly, they stopped an over-speeding auto only to find the driver was carrying 27 passengers, including the elderly and children.
The video of the cops counting passengers one by one has since gone viral. The incident was reported from the Fatehpurdistrict in Uttar Pradesh.
The auto was first spotted near the BindkiKotwali area of Fatehpur when the cops checked the speed gun. The over-speedingauto was chased down by police.
When the officials began deboardingpassengers, they were stunned to see 27 people, all cramped up, including thedriver, coming out of the auto.
Police have seized the auto for the violation of norms.
Such violations have been reported in thepast too but no strict action is being taken by the concerned authorities to overcomethis problem. Experts believe such violations can put the lives of thepassengers at risk.
As per the data with Hindustan Times, atotal of 591 challans were issued and 21 autorickshaws were impounded duringthe drive for overloading in Gurugram in 2019.
The special drives have been conducted inother parts of the India as well. In 2021, Visakhapatnam it was reported thatin a span of six days, police teams have booked 630 cases against erringauto-rickshaw drivers. The traffic police had initiated a special drive againstsix motor vehicle violations including overloading of auto-rickshaws, which isa common sight in most areas of the city. Traffic police teams have beenconducting drives at around 33 identified places covering all major junctionsin the city police station limits.
