Being able to book a cab any time of the day from the smartphone is undoubtedly the biggest revolution app-based aggregators like Uber have brought into our lives.
But this doesn't mean that it is a smooth sail always and many times passengers are left asking what conveniences these services have really brought.
In one such incident, a man from Bengaluru was left shocked after the Uber app told him that he had to wait for 50 minutes for his pickup.
"I haven¡¯t seen come across any city more messed up than Bangalore. Also perhaps the most corrupt city in India; from auto drivers to Uber drivers, from politicians to babus. How would things change?" a user, identified as Rajesh Sawhney, wrote on X.
The post went viral on social media, and others soon joined the conversation.
While some blamed the city's lack of infrastructure for the mess, others pointed fingers at Uber for the issue.?
Many also disagreed with him on calling Bengaluru the most corrupt city in India.
"Today itself Uber driver from Bangalore Airport refused to switch on the AC saying Uber Go doesn't come with AC. When I insisted he switched on and at drop was demanding additional AC charges. Never faced this in any other city," a social media user wrote.
"If the driver is 20km away then 50 min is legit in rush hours in probably any tier 1 city. Uber is messing up by allocating a driver far away," another person pointed out.
"Having worked across six cities in India, I can assert that Bangalore's level of corruption is unparalleled. It's akin to an endemic that impacts everyone, from rickshaw drivers to government officials," another user commented.
"That is problem with the App allocating the driver, stop blaming the city or the residents," yet another user contested.
"How dare you call Bangalore the most messed and corrupt place in India. Delhi and UP people are deeply offended,"?asked another.
