Dr Issac Mathai, a Bengaluru-based doctor, is among the few individuals from India invited to attend the Coronation Of UK's King Charles III.
Dr Mathai, the Chairman of SOUKYA, International Holistic Centre at Samethanahalli, near Whitefield, has a long-running relationship with the UK royal family.
Since 2010, Queen Camilla (then Duchess of Cornwall) has visited Soukya for holistic treatment multiple times and King Charles has also been to the facility in 2019.
Last year, he was one of the few Indians who Buckingham Palace invited for the last rites of Queen Elizabeth II.
Another Indian name on the list of guests for the Coronation ceremony of King Charles III on May 6 is Sourabh Phadke, a Pune-born architect and teacher.
The 38-year-old was chosen for his association and great success through the causes supported by the Prince's Foundation, the charity founded by Charles when he was the Prince of Wales. Originally trained as an architect, Phadke joined the foundation's Traditional Building Skills programme and expanded his repertoire by training as a stonemason.
"It's still sinking in and I don't know what to expect, considering I've never been to a Coronation before. It's with that spirit in mind that I'm approaching it," Phadke told PTI.
Phadke also received an Albukhary Foundation Scholarship to do an MA at the Prince's Foundation's School of Traditional Arts, where he now works as a tutor. Having led a nomadic existence in India, travelling from place to place, teaching and also building schools, Phadke moved to the UK a few years ago when his wife Persis won a scholarship to do a geography PhD at King's College in London.
Manju Malhi, an Indian-origin chef who works with a charity for senior citizens in the UK, has been named on the list of community champions and has also been invited to King Charles III's coronation. She is one of the British Empire Medal (BEM) winners on the royal invitation list for the grand event set to take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.?
While India will be officially represented at the coronation of King Charles III by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, there are also reports that actress Sonam Kapoor has been invited to perform at the event.
