Dengue Patient Dies In Prayagraj Hospital, Family Alleges He Was Given Mosambi Juice Instead Of Plasma
In a shocking incident, the family of a dengue patient in Prayagraj who died during treatment has alleged that he was given sweet lime juice instead of plasma for transfusion.
The 32-year-old dengue patient was given bags marked as 'plasma' at the Global Hospital and Trauma Centre in Prayagraj when he was admitted there.

But according to his relatives, the patient's condition deteriorated after the transfusion and he was shifted to another hospital, where he died during the treatment.
To their utter shock doctors at the second hospital told the relatives that the bag that they were given claiming to be plasma was, in reality, a mix of chemicals and mosambi juice.
According to doctors, the fluid in the bag had a coulour that was similar to plasma but was much thinner.

Hospital sealed, probe ordered
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that a probe into the incident was underway and a test report was expected soon.
"Strict action will be taken against those found guilty in the case," he said.
The hospital was sealed on the instructions of the chief medical officer and will remain so till the sample is tested, the Additional Chief Medical Officer of Prayagraj said in a statement to the media.
Dr Nanak Saran, chief medical officer, Prayagraj, told reporters that the content of the platelets bag cannot be ascertained through naked eyes and can only be clear after a forensic probe. Saran said that a detailed investigation is underway and a preliminary report is expected soon.
Did not supply the plasm: hospital
The hospital has refuted the allegations and claimed that the plasma was brought by the relatives of the hospital and not supplied by them.
Saurabh Mishra, the owner of the hospital, said that since the patient's platelets level dropped to 17,000, his relatives were asked to arrange blood platelets for him.
"They brought five units of platelets from SRN Hospital. After transfusion of three units, the patient had a reaction. So we stopped it," he said.
Dengue situation in UP
Meanwhile, amid the rise in dengue cases across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday issued a directive stating that leaves of doctors and paramedical staff associated with government hospitals should not be approved.
Earlier, a high-level team from the Union Health Ministry was sent to Uttar Pradesh for instituting measures with regards to dengue management in Firozabad, Agra, and Etawah districts.
