A woman without any previous health issues had a scary moment recently when her heart rate suddenly shot up unusually. Interestingly, it was technology that came to the rescue.
Sneha Sinha, a policy researcher based in Delhi, shared her experience with HT Tech.?

Despite having no prior health conditions, she encountered a concerning situation when her heart rate spiked unexpectedly after returning from a day of usual activities.?
Utilising her Apple Watch, she monitored her heart rate, which remained elevated despite attempts to calm it through deep breathing.?
Initially dismissing it, thinking it might settle on its own, she eventually sought medical attention when the high heart rate persisted for over 1.5 hours, indicating the onset of Atrial Fibrillation (AFib).?
Her proactive response credits the technology for alerting her to the issue, prompting her to seek timely medical intervention.
Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) is a heart condition characterised by irregular and often rapid heartbeats. In AFib, the heart's upper chambers (atria) beat chaotically and out of sync with the lower chambers (ventricles).?
This irregular heartbeat can lead to symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, and chest discomfort.?
AFib increases the risk of complications such as stroke, heart failure, and other heart-related problems.
Treatment for AFib may involve medications to control heart rate and rhythm, blood thinners to reduce the risk of stroke, and other interventions to manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications.
Later, Sinha decided to send an email to Apple CEO Tim Cook to thank him for creating such "accurate and advanced heart monitoring features" in the Apple Watch.
"I wanted to express my deep gratitude for creating such accurate and advanced heart monitoring features. The Apple Watch has shown how innovation and technology can change healthcare and save lives," Sinha told the media outlet.
Meanwhile, she also mentioned that she received a response from Cook.?
"After I shared my story with Tim, within just a few hours he wrote back saying, 'I'm so glad you sought medical attention and received the treatment you needed. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us'," she said according to HT Tech.
