Beating all odds, Jagtap Kiran Suresh, 29, made it to the Indian Forest Service (IFS) in 2016 after continuously chasing his dream for five-years.
Hailing from a nondescript village called Vangudi near Pune, Jagtap¡¯s father Suresh ¡ªa traffic sub-inspector with Maharashtra police ¡ª has never been unsure of his son¡¯s success. ¡°His love for detective books has showed from early years that his mind was focused on solving problems. And here he is today, ready to solve the problems of world. I am a very proud father,¡± he said in Marathi.

Jagtap had been a topper in studies during both school and college days. He has a degree in agriculture. He had been one of the toppers in Maharashtra state board examinations in both class 10 and 12.
The young officer said that his source of motivation is his mother, while she feels that nothing but sheer dedication has paved way to his success. Earlier, Suresh was also selected to Employees Provident Funds Organisation (EPFO) for the post of assistant provident funds commissioner.

His mother Kamal Jagtap recalls, ¡°He used to study for over 18 hours every day to crack the examination. He chose forestry over other things due to his compassionate nature. He reads fiction as a stress buster.¡±
Speaking about the main challenges for India in conserving forests and battling climate change, Jagtap said, ¡°Though the forest cover of our country is increasing, the biomass is as it is. It is a matter of concern as it is supposed to increase over the years. Less biomass means less sequestration of carbon in the forests.¡±
