Amid such chaos and uncertainty, Delhi-based Viplav Arora ¨C an architect by profession ¨C booked an Ola cab on Wednesday. He had only had Rs 500 notes in his pocket which amounts to no money. Though he had Ola Money in his online wallet, it fell short at the end of the journey. Now, he had absolutely no other option to pay the remaining sum to the driver ¨C Vipin Kumar.
¡°I booked an Ola from home to railway station today (Tuesday). Unfortunately, I had all 500-rupee notes in my wallet at that time and I was totally aware of scrapping of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
So, I decided to pay through Ola Money. But somehow my bill for the ride was little over the amount I had in my Ola Money valet. The rest amount I was supposed to pay to driver in cash,¡± he shared this story on Facebook page of Ola Cabs on Tuesday from where it went viral.
But the driver Kumar won his heart with his reply when he got to know that he did not have cash.
In fact, his reply was something that would win everyone.
Respecting the decision of the government, I will consider this as my contribution to the country¡¯s growth. You please go ahead and catch your train without any worries),¡± said the driver.
Ola Cabs too acknowledged the good deed of their driver and said they will compensate the loss and adjust the rest amount.
¡°We¡¯re so happy to hear this Viplav. We¡¯re proud to have a driver-partner like Vipin Kumar with us! More power to him,¡± wrote Ola in response to Arora¡¯s post.
