Posted by IAS officer Supriya Sahu on social media platform X, the footage showcases a polling station crafted from coconut and bamboo leaves, symbolising a harmonious blend of tradition and environmental consciousness.
Sahu's post highlights the initiative undertaken by the Tirupathur district administration to promote voter awareness regarding environmental sustainability.
The innovative booth featured in the video boasts construction using palm leaves, wildflowers, tree branches, and bamboo, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practices.
Furthermore, the precinct surrounding the booth has been designated as a plastic-free zone, with strict regulations against the entry of any plastic items.?
Emphasising waste management, the authorities have installed separate bins for wet and dry waste, crafted from bamboo to align with the eco-friendly theme.
In a bid to completely eradicate plastic usage, voters are provided with drinking water served in clay pots and steel glasses, reinforcing the campaign's dedication to minimising environmental impact.

On April 19, 2024, the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 began with the first phase including 102 constituencies. The Election Commission of India (EC) has set up a huge network of 1.87 lakh polling stations for this massive event.?
In the first phase of the seven-phase electoral process, a total of 1,625 candidates are running for office. Among them, there are 1,491 male candidates and 134 female candidates. This phase is scheduled to finish on June 1.
To help the movement of polling and security staff, 41 helicopters, 84 special trains, and almost 1 lakh vehicles have been put into action nationwide.
