A desperate migrant worker stole a bicycle in Rajasthan's Bharatpur to pedal his way to home in Uttar Pradesh, covering a distance of more than 250 kilometres. However, the man left behind an apology note, explaining his situation.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Mohammad Iqbal stole a bicycle from Rarah village of Bharatpur district from the house of Sahab Singh late on Monday night. Singh found the letter while he was cleaning the verandah of his house.
¡°Main majdoor hun, majboor bhi. Main aapka gunehgar hu. Aapki cycle lekar ja raha hu. Mujhe maaf kar dena. Mujhe Bareily tak jana he. Mere pass koi sadhan nahi he aur viklang baccha hai," read the note written in Hindi.
(I'm a labourer and also helpless. I'm your culprit too. I'm taking your bicycle. Please forgive me. I have no other means to reach my home and I have a specially-abled child. I have to go to Bareilly.)
There have been numerous reports of stranded migrant workers walking, hitch hiking or cycling thousands of kilometres to reach their homes in different parts of the country.
The nationwide lockdown has been the harshest on migrant workers, many of whom have lost their lives while trying to reach their native villages.
