Cops in Mumbai have nabbed 7 people and seized fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs 7 crore, as per PTI. This was after they busted an inter-state gang involved in the printing and distribution of counterfeit notes, according to an official.?
Having got the information, Unit-11 of the Mumbai crime branch intercepted a car at Dahisar Check Post in the suburbs on January 25, added the official.
The police took 4 people in the car into custody and questioned them, he went on to say.?
On searching the car, they found a bag containing 250 bundles of counterfeit currency notes (in Rs 2,000 denomination) with a face value of Rs 5 crore.?
The interrogation resulted in the police getting to know about 3 more aides.?
A team then conducted a raid at a hotel in suburban Andheri (west) and arrested the three others and recovered adding 100 more bundles of fake currency notes (again in Rs 2,000 denomination) with a face value of Rs 2 crore.?
Other than that they recovered a laptop, seven mobile phones, Rs 28,170 in genuine currency, Aadhaar and PAN cards and driving licences.?
The investigation revealed that the gang was operating a racket of printing fake currency notes and distributing them, said DCP Sangramsingh Nishandar (Detection-1).?
The accused have been remanded in police custody till January 31.
