Police detained Shaheen Bagh activist Bilkis Dadi who had reached the Delhi-Haryana border in Singhu to join the farmers protesting the government¡¯s farm laws.
Ahead of the detention, Bilkis Dadi had said that the government should listen to the demands of the farmers.?
"We are daughters of farmers, we¡¯ll go to support farmers¡¯ protest today. We will raise our voice, the Central government should listen to us," she had said before joining the protest.?
Upon being asked as to?why she joined the farmers protest, Bano said the farmers had supported the Shaheen Bagh stir, and now it is her turn to support.??
Bilkis Dadi became the face of the anti-CAA protests at Shaheen Bagh earlier this year and also featured along with PM Modi in Time magazine¡¯s ¡®100 Most Influential People of the Year¡¯ list.? ??
Notably, the move by Bilkis Dadi to join the farmers¡¯ protest comes days after BJP leaders alleged the farmers protest was being ¡°hijacked¡± by ¡°pro-Pakistan¡± and ¡°pro-Khalistan¡± forces.
Thousands of farmers from Punjab and Haryana are protesting against the three farm laws passed by Parliament in September. They have been camping in and around Delhi demanding that the laws should be taken back by the Centre.
Meanwhile, several farmers¡¯ leaders reached Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan on Tuesday, for discussions with the Centre amid ongoing protests in the national capital over the government¡¯s new farm laws.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, ahead of the talks, said that the offers that the government will make will depend on the exact demands of the protesting farmers.
The meeting is being attended by Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
Apart from Dadi, Bhim Army chief Chandrashekar Azad on Tuesday joined the protesting farmers at the Delhi-Ghazipur border along with hundreds of his supporters and demanded that the new farms laws be withdrawn immediately.
