In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old gang rape survivor was sexually abused by a police officer inside the station, when she went there to register a complaint.
The incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh's Lalitpur district on Tuesday.
The rape survivor, in her complaint, had alleged that she was lured to Bhopal by four youths on April 22, who then sexually abused her.
She was brought back to her village on April 26 by the accused who dumped her near the Pali Police station.
The cops then allegedly handed the teenager over to her aunt, without informing her parents.
The teenager was also asked to come to the police station the next day to record her statement.
But when the rape survivor and her aunt reached the police station, Station House Officer Tilakdhari Saroj, allegedly took her to another room and sexually abused her.
The teenager was then handed over to Childline Welfare committee.
It was during a counseling session by the Childline officials, that the teenager opened up about her ordeal, including the sexual abuse by the cop.
ChildLine welfare committee then reached out to the Lalitpur Superintendent of police about the crime. Following this, the SP immediately filed a case of gang-rape against six people including SHO Tilakdhari Saroj.?
The others booked in the case include the four men who gang raped her - Chandan, Rajbhan, Harishankar and Mahendra Chaurasia and the girl's aunt who was present at the station when the was sexually abused by the SHO.
The accused have been booked under section 363, 376, 376-B, 120-B IPC, section 3, 4 POCSO and section 3(2)(V) SC/ST act.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Pathak, the SHO has been suspended and he is on the run.
A team has been constituted for the arrest of all the accused.?
"One accused has been arrested and he is being interrogated. The SHO including the others accused is absconding. They will be arrested soon," the SP said.
The incident came to light days after an 18-year-old nurse was found hanging from a pillar of a nursing home in Unnao district on her first day at work.
The body of the nurse was found hanging at New Jeevan Nursing Home in the Bangarmau area of the district on April 30, and her family had alleged that she was raped, before the murder.
