Tourists who are stranded in Jammu and Kashmir due to the closure of air and surface travel have found some relief. Hotels and houseboats have opened their doors to the tourists who have nowhere to go.??
As per a report in The New Indian Express, they are offering a 50% rebate to the tourists who were supposed to leave days back but could not due to it being cut off from the rest of the country.?
Kashmir Houseboat Owners Association President Abdul Hamid Wangnoo confirmed the news.?
The heavy snowfall is the reason why the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only link road connecting Kashmir with the rest of India is closed. Air traffic too has been suspended.
¡°We have provided our helpline Nos and made some of our houseboats at Nageen and Dal Lake available to stranded tourists free of cost,¡± he said.?
Also, tourists who were already staying but cannot go back can keep on staying.?
¡°We will be giving them up to 50% rebate. And in case, somebody does not have money to pay the bill, he/she does not need to worry,¡± he added.?
A nice gesture indeed and this helps these stranded people in the time of need.
