Former Punjab Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has thanked the two Punjab Police personnel whose quick actions saved his life on Wednesday when he was targeted by a gunman outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar. Badal was saved by ASI Jasbir Singh and ASI Hira Singh, who managed to quickly overpower the gunman, Narain Singh Chaura.
On Thursday, Badal shared a heartfelt note of thanks on social media for saving his life, along with photos showing him hugging the two cops.
"Risking your life to save someone's life is not an easy thing. ASI Jasbir Singh and ASI Hira Singh have both been a part of our family from the time of Parkash Singh Ji Badal," the SAD chief said.
"My family and I cannot repay the courage and loyalty shown by them yesterday. May God bless them with a long life, good health, and all happiness," he added.

Initially, it was reported that Badal was saved by a guard, but later it was clarified that the man in plain clothes, who thwarted the attack, was a cop.
In videos that went viral, the ASI who was standing close to Badal was seen observing Chaura as he approached. As Chaura pulled out his gun, ASI Singh leaped forward and grabbed the hands of the gunman, who ended up firing into the air.
On Thursday, ASI Jasbir Singh opened up about the incidents that transpired at the Golden Temple a day earlier.
¡°When he (Narain Singh Chaura) came there, I was standing alert. Looking at him, everything became clear. He was rounded up, his pistol taken away, and he was arrested."
¡°Officers had already briefed us that nothing untoward should happen here. So, we were on full alert, upholding the decorum of Darbar Sahib," Singh said in a video released by Punjab Police.
