Earlier, the National Aviators Guild (NAG) had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that Jet Airways pilots and engineers have not been regularly paid for the past seven months and warned that the airline is on the verge of collapse leaving thousands of people unemployed.
The development comes days after a consortium of banks led by SBI took control of Jet Airways in an attempt to keep the airline operational until they can find a fresh buyer.
As part of the rescue deal, Naresh Goyal the founder of Jet Airways who had a 51% stake in the company agreed to step down from the director board, along with his wife.
As per reports, Jet needs around Rs 1,200 crore as emergency funding to stay afloat.?

It is not just the pilots and other staff that Jet Airways has defaulted on payments.
It has unpaid dues rentals to aircraft lessors and has defaulted on interest payment in December.

In an attempt to reduce operational losses, Jet Airways has significantly cut down on its flights. According to reports only 1/3 of its original fleet is now operational, with no international flights.
Many fear that even after the take over by banks, Jet Airways could suffer a similar fate that of Kingfisher Airlines, which seized operations in 2012.
