The Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday saw yet another suicide, taking the number of deaths there in as many days to three.
On Wednesday morning, the body of a woman, Priya Singh (27), was found hanging in Narmada Guest House.
Priya, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had come to SDSC at Sriharikota on Tuesday after her husband, Vikas Singh, a Sub-Inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), shot himself dead.
Police believe that Priya Singh took the extreme step due to the shock of her husband's death. The couple had three children.?
Sub-inspector Vikas Singh shot himself in the head with his pistol on Monday night. The 30-year-old was on duty at gate one of SHAR.
Hearing the gunshot, other security personnel rushed there and found Vikas Singh lying in a pool of blood.
The reason for the extreme step is not known. Police said they registered a case and took up the investigation.
Vikas Singh shot himself dead just hours after another CISF personnel at SDSC died by suicide.
Earlier, a CISF constable Chintamani (29), had died of suicide after he hanged himself on Sunday night while discharging his duty at PCMC Radar-1 area. Chintamani, a native of Chhattisgarh, had returned to duty on January 10 after a month-long leave.
The initial investigation had ruled out any links between the two deaths and Police suspected 'personal reasons' for the two men taking their own lives.
"The two CISF personnel took the extreme step due to their personal issues," a police official said.
