These are among the tens of thousands of heroic Ukrainian men and women who have spent the last several days fighting back against heavily armed Russian troops.
Ukraine¡¯s united resistance has been mounting ever since Russian President Vladimir Putin gave the orders for his troops to start attacking from multiple fronts ¡ª and the stories of bravery only continue to emerge.
Here¡¯s a look at just some of the everyday civilians and soldiers taking a stand against Russia, and we hail these heroes.
The Georgian captain of an oil tanker refused to refuel a Russian ship in protest against the country's invasion of Ukraine earlier this week, and the crew is "very proud," the captain's wife told Insider.
Video of the incident, which took place on Sunday, was first posted by the Voice of America reporter Fatima Tlis and later shared widely on social media.It shows the vessel's captain, identified as David M., speaking to a Russian ship over the radio after it asked for fuel.
"Are you from Russia?" David is heard asking the Russian ship in the video.?
When the ship said yes, he responded: "I see, a ship from Russia. We refuse to refuel you ... Russian ship, go fuck yourself," an apparent reference to the message sent by border guards on Ukraine's Zmiinyi Island who refused to surrender to Russia days earlier.
"Guys, leave the politics. We are almost out of fuel," the Russians can be heard responding."Well if you're almost out of fuel, you have oars ¡ª row!" David said, adding: "Glory to the heroes, glory to Ukraine!"
An elderly pensioner was arrested in Russia on Wednesday while protesting the invasion of Ukraine in the city of St. Petersburg. The woman, 76-year-old artist and activist Yelena Osipova, went viral across social media after footage showed her being take into custody by a large group of riot police.
WW-II veteran Osipova, who is well-known not only for her activism and art but for surviving the Nazi¡¯s Siege of Leningrad as a baby, was seen holding signs that included messages urging soldiers to lay down their arms.
Dramatic footage shows Ukrainians marching against advancing Russian troops in the southern city of Melitopol, with some throwing themselves on the ground to block the path of military vehicles.
In a brave show of resistance, the Ukrainian protesters chanted ¡°occupants¡± and ¡°murderers¡± as they confronted Russian troops trying advance into their city.

Similarly, in Ukraine's Energodar,?residents came out on the streets to stop the advancement of the Russian forces.
Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is housed in Energodar which makes it a target for Russian troops. Hundreds of workers and locals have blocked an access road to the Ukrainian nuclear power facility in Energodar.
A video shared on the local authority's Facebook page suggests that a large crowd waving Ukrainian flags blocked the route on Wednesday morning.
The local reports say that the garbage trucks were also blocking the road. Dmytro Orlov, the mayor of Energodar stated on Facebook that they have shown the viewpoint of their city and its citizens that the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant is under trustworthy security and that its workers and residents of Energodar are under Ukrainian flags.
A video clip from Berdyansk, a port city in southeast Ukraine has been making the rounds online showing a Ukrainian man, with a lit cigarette still held in his mouth, carrying what is allegedly a landmine across an empty street and into a wooded area.?
In the video, he is seen removing an anti-tank mine with his bare hands while puffing a cigarette. The 38-second clip ends while the man is still walking off with the mine in hand.
A video has gone viral showing a Ukrainian woman confronting heavily armed Russian soldiers.The video is said to be from the port city of Henichesk near the sea of Azov. The woman can be heard threatening one of the soldiers: "Put sunflower seeds in your pockets so they grow on Ukraine soil when you die."
In the video, the woman can be seen confronting two Russian soldiers.In the video, the woman was seen asking Russian soldiers who are you? To which, one of them replied and said that they have exercises here, and asked her to go.
Then the woman replies and says what kind of exercises? Are you Russian?To which, the soldier says yes and the woman says so what the f**k are you doing here. Replying to her, the soldier says that right now, their discussion will lead to nothing.
The woman says that they are occupants, they are fascists, what the fu** are they doing here. She further says that they should put the sunflower seeds in their pockets so that they can lie down here with the seeds. She further says that do they even understand that they are occupiers, they are enemies.?
