You open social media and it's no surprise to see numerous videos claiming certain foods are unhealthy or promoting others as better options. A woman from the UK decided to follow such online remedies to treat her cancer, and now she is sharing her story.

Instead of following her doctors' advice to undergo chemotherapy, she chose to pursue alternative treatments endorsed by a social media influencer who claimed that drastic lifestyle and dietary changes could heal the body naturally.
For two and a half years, Stoynova followed various diets and holistic therapies, including a rigorous juice regimen.?
She had specific juicers for different types of produce¡ªone for carrots, one for citrus, and another for everything else.?
"I was fanatic. It was like tunnel vision," she recalled.
This left her severely underweight and with fluid in her lungs. Despite spending over ?2,000 (Rs 2.11 lakh) on different juicers and spending hours daily making juices, her health worsened.
"I didn't stop when I should have; I was just so weak, I had sleep deprivation and hallucinations," she said.?
She adds, "I couldn¡¯t breathe because there was fluid on my lungs, I lost about 20kg because of the dieting."
By May 2023, Irena Stoynova was on the brink of death when an ambulance rushed her to the hospital.?
A doctor informed her that without treatment, she would likely die because her cancer had progressed to Stage 3.?
Even then, it took about ten days before she finally began chemotherapy, according to local media reports quoting Dr. Clare Rees.
Now in remission, Stoynova urges others with a cancer diagnosis to trust their medical professionals.
She says, "If you have cancer, you need something much harder than organic carrot juice and celery."
