In a shocking incident, a woman and her daughter were found dead in a hospital near Bhulabhai Park in Gujarat's capital Ahmedabad.
According to the police, the body of 30-year-old Bharti Vala was discovered by hospital staff on Wednesday from inside a cabinet concealing pipes and valves to the operation theatre.
Later it was revealed that her mother, Champa Vala, who was admitted to the hospital, was also missing.
Police found the mother's body hidden, wrapped inside a blanket under a hospital bed.
The two women, who were residents of Narol, had visited the ENT hospital to get the mother's ears checked.
According to the Police, there was a horrible smell inside the hospital's operation theatre, after which a staff member opened the cabinet and found the first body.
Police suspect that someone who had inside knowledge of the functioning of the hospital was behind the double murder.
Based on the interrogation of the hospital staff, police have detained Mansukh, a compounder at the hospital.
According to the police, Mansukh is a relative of Bharti's in-laws.
Police said Bharti got married 5-6 years ago, but due to domestic disputes, she had left her in-law's house and was living with her parents.
Cops suspect the accused was aware the doctor would not be present at the hospital after 9.30 am and called the duo during that time.?
The cops believe the accused killed Bharti first and when Champa tried to intervene, she, too, was murdered.
The mother and daughter were injected with some sedatives and later strangulated to ensure they were dead.
"The murder seems to have taken place between 9.30am and 10.30am as the CCTV system was shut down during this period. Also, Dr Arpit Shah, who runs the hospital, was not present there, and he had left the hospital between 9am and 9.30am," the police said.
