Remember 'The Terminal,' a 2004 Hollywood comedy-drama movie directed by Steven Spielberg that depicted the life of Viktor Navorski, a passenger who gets stuck in the JFK Airport terminal and begins living there? The character played by Tom Hanks was inspired by Mehran Karimi Nasseri, an Iranian refugee who resided in Terminal 1 of Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, from 1988 to 2006.
Contractors working on the roof of a supermarket in the US state of Michigan recently stumbled upon a similar story when they discovered a woman living inside its signboard.
The unnamed homeless woman had been residing inside the signboard of the Family Fare supermarket for nearly a year before she was discovered.?
The 34-year-old had transformed the supermarket's rooftop sign into a makeshift house, complete with a mini desk, flooring, clothing, a pantry of food, a printer, and a houseplant. Contractors uncovered the secret 'house' inside the 1.5 meters wide and 2.4 meters high signboard after noticing an extension cord leading from one of the rooftop units to this particular sign.

After discovering the unusual tenant, the contractors informed the supermarket authorities, who then alerted the police. But before the police arrived, the woman voluntarily vacated her 'house' and agreed to leave. According to the police, the woman was homeless and departed with some of her belongings on the same day. The supermarket opted not to pursue trespassing charges and even offered to assist her.

It is still unclear how she found her 'home' and lived there undetected for such a long time. According to the police, there was no sign of a ladder, and it¡¯s possible the woman made her way to the roof by climbing up elsewhere behind the store or other retail businesses. ¡°I honestly don¡¯t know how she was getting up there. She didn¡¯t indicate, either,¡± a police officer said.
