Democrat Joe Biden has been in office as the President of the United States for just one day. But the 46th President has already articles of impeachment against him, thanks to Republican Senator Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Greene who became infamous for peddling QAnon conspiracy theories during the elections introduced the articles Thursday, alleging corruption by President Biden in his dealings with Ukraine and abuse of power pertaining to his son, Hunter.
In a statement released on Thursday, Greene, who represents Georgia's 14th Congressional District, said: "President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the Presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama's Vice President is lengthy and disturbing."
Greene then went on to claim that Biden had committed to quid pro quo with Ukrainian officials while he was Vice President in order to help his son "siphon cash from America's greatest enemies Russian and China."
¡°I just filed articles of impeachment on President Joe Biden, we¡¯ll see how this goes,¡± Green said.
In fact, Green's actions did not come as a surprise, as had already announced that she will file articles of impeachment against Biden on his first day in office.
Along with filing the articles of impeachment, Greene has asked supporters to text and sign a petition and donate funds to her impeachment filing.
It however is unlikely to be taken up for consideration by the House or Senate, both now controlled by the Democrats.
Even if it does, it is unlikely to get the support of even Republicans, except a handful of hardliner Trump loyalists.
Incidentally, the Senate is likely to soon initiate the proceedings to try Trump, who recently became the first President to be impeached twice.
Ahead of the Presidential inauguration, Green, a first-time elected representative was slapped with a 12-hour ban by Twitter after she tweeted claims of alleged election fraud in Georgia, her home state.
Twitter flagged at least two tweets as "disputed" and prevented them from being shared or retweeted, saying they carried the "risk of violence".
Greene, an ardent Donald Trump supporter, has echoed his baseless claims of rigging in the 2020 election.
She has also embraced QAnon conspiracy theories in the past and was endorsed by the president as a "future Republican star".
QAnon followers believe that Trump is waging a secret war against a global liberal cult of Satan-worshipping pedophiles. They have not offered any credible evidence for it.
