Imagine this: You're all dolled up, ready to celebrate love at your colleague's wedding. But as the night unfolds, you find yourself in a bizarre situation that leaves you questioning everything. Well, that's exactly what happened to one woman at a wedding, and her account of it on Reddit is sending shockwaves through the internet.
So, there was this incident where this lady, then in her 20s, and her coworker went on a super long journey, like eight hours each way, to attend a wedding. But guess what? When they got there, they found out their invitation didn't include food! They were starving while everyone else was having a blast.
The lady was excited about the wedding, with all its fancy stuff like Celtic hand-tying and candle ceremonies. But when they got to the venue and checked the seating plan, their names weren't there.??
She said, "We arrive at the venue and, like everyone else, are checking the table plan for our seats... And still checking... But can't find our names."
She further added that the "master of ceremonies" approached them and requested to see their invitation, then informed them that "we were only invited to the church and evening drinks and that we need to leave. It was in tiny small print that our invite wasn't for the meal."
The owner of the place where they stayed was furious when she found out what had happened and fed them. The owner then drove them back for the evening ceremony at 7 pm. (Travelling for eight hours for nothing!?)
She continued, "By this point everyone at the venue was sloppy drunk as they'd been drinking for 5 hrs and we find out we were THE ONLY 'evening guests'. We tried to enjoy ourselves but slipped away at 10pm as the single men were VERY handsy!"
Later on, they found out they weren't even supposed to be on the guest list originally. The bride only invited them because their boss told her to, not because she actually wanted them there.
So, as a little revenge, they decided not to give the couple as much money as they planned. Instead, they only got something small from the wedding registry.
"Oh, and for petty revenge we had put ?50 each in the card envelope and chipped in for a beautiful bedding set on her registry at Debenhams so our gifts were worth ?100 each. We took the money out of the card and just gave her the bedding ?," she said.??
Lesson learned: always read wedding invitations carefully so you don't end up in a mess like this. Check the details, especially about food!
