Roger Federer gave away a lead against a guy he'd never lost to and was beaten 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, much to the disappointment and shock of the crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

After starting in a familiar dominating mode and taking the first set, Federer lost the second and then took the third. After leading two sets to one, he would lose the fourth set as Dimitrov showed great composure and character to draw level.?
Federer took a rare-for-him medical timeout after the fourth set, leaving the court with a trainer. It was unclear what the issue was with the 38 year-old Swiss ace, but he was seen?flexing his back after some points.?
