Meta's metaverse (errr!) is currently in construction mode. To merge its existing pool of services including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta recently unveiled 3D avatars for Instagram stories.
In addition to adding 3D avatars to Instagram Stories and direct messages, Meta is also bringing avatars to Facebook and Messenger, Meta announced on Monday.
While the feature is only available in the United States, Canada, and Mexico so far, it would be available in other countries soon. People with access to the feature can use their avatars as stickers, profile pictures on Facebook, and even posts.

If you use the Quest virtual reality platform, your avatar would also work there. The new avatars bring new facial shapes in addition to other things like hearing aids and wheelchairs to be more inclusive of users that have disabilities.
¡°Since revealing our long-term vision of the metaverse at Connect 2021, we¡¯ve continued building out this next evolution of social technology, building towards a future where you can sit in the same room as loved ones who are actually thousands of miles away or work naturally with a talented team that spans the globe,¡± Aigerim Shorman, Meta's general manager for avatars and identity wrote in a blog post.
