In the midst of social isolation due to COVID-19 pandemic, dating app Tinder is now extending a premium feature to all its users. Named ¡®Passport¡¯, the feature will allow users to swipe and match with users at any part of the world.
Rolling out next week, the feature will be available throughout April for all Tinder users. Using Passport, users will be able to come across Tinder profiles from around the world and match with the ones they like.
Amidst a lockdown in most of the regions in the world due to Coronavirus, the company deems it fit to let people from different parts of the world to connect with each other through its platform.
The decision by Match Group CEO Shar Dubey was shared with all the company employees in a recent note. As per the CEO, the move will provide Tinder users with ¡°the technology to share, learn and listen to those that are experiencing this same situation in different geographies during an unprecedented period of isolation.¡±
For those unaware, Tinder Passport is a paid feature of the dating app, usually available under its two premium plans - Tinder Gold or Tinder Plus.
Passport allows users to search Tinder users in any specific city or region around the globe by simply pinpointing the location on a map or searching for a city. Amidst the lockdown, the feature will be a virtual ticket to the outside world for many.
Match Group extended another new feature to another of its dating app Plenty of Fish. The new feature called Live will let users live-stream, just like on any other social media platform. The live can be watched by others, who can also interact with the live-streamer through comments and reactions and eventually direct messages.
