In the first week of March, Iceland saw numerous earthquakes that shook the entire nation. The seismic activity was spotted near the Reykjanes Peninsula, a densely populated region in the southwest region of Iceland, just below the capital city of Reykjavik.?
And it was anticipated that it would result in a volcanic eruption, which finally happened on Friday.
This was the first eruption in the region in 800 years, just 40 kilometres from Iceland¡¯s capital. Lava engulfed around one square kilometre of the area just four hours after the eruption commenced.

And one videographer by the name of Bjorn Steinbekk managed to give us a glimpse of the kind of devastation the Iceland volcano lava flow caused through his POV drone.??
The epic fly-by video where the drone is flying on top of the red lines of lava that looks a lot like a movie scene shot.?
The grey and red path that the Iceland volcano lava river has paved for itself looks like something an evil villain from DC or Marvel would walk on.?
The 30-second video ends with the drone going over the top of the mountain, with boiling hot lava spewing at the perfect timing, giving us a sight to truly behold.?
The drone luckily managed to escape the hot melting lava that squirted right out, bringing back the footage which the guy later uploaded for all the world to see.
Iceland experienced tremors so frequently as it sits right in between the two tectonic plates - The Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. The nation has recorded more than 40,000 earthquakes in the past four weeks.
In 2010, the Eyjafjallajokull volcano had resulted in a huge ash cloud that halted approximately 90,000 flights and forced hundreds of Icelanders from their homes. Surprisingly, this recent explosion isn't expected to spew as much ash or smoke.
Dr Freysteinn Sigmundsson, a geophysicist at the University of Iceland said in a statement to the Guardian, ¡°'This event is completely different to Eyjafjallaj?kull ¨C it is very unlikely that it will disrupt air transport. This will probably be a lava eruption with little explosive activity.¡±
