Indian origin Arvind Krishna will be replacing the legendary Ginni Rometty as the CEO of the popular tech firm IBM (International Business Machines)?
Krishna currently held the position of Senior Vice President and was responsible for properties like? IBM Cloud, IBM Security and Cognitive Applications business, as well as IBM Research.
He has also been through the role of a general manager of IBM's Systems and Technology Group's development and manufacturing organisation.?He has also led several of IBM's data-related businesses.
He completed his undergrad from IIT Kanpur and later, a PhD from the University Of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He has also been awarded the prestigious Alumni awards from the institution.
Not just this, he has also co-authored 15 patents and written for journals ACM and IEEE.?He is expected to take over controls of IBM from Ginni Rometty in April.
Ginni has been the CEO for IBM for nearly eight years now and has made 65 noteworthy acquisitions including the acquisition of Red Hat for $34 billion -- one of the largest done by the tech giant.
She's exiting the company after reporting the firm's first revenue growth in six quarters. The company, however, has lost a quarter of its value since she took the reigns of the empire.
She's going to continue with the role of Executive Chairman and retire by the end her journey of more than 40 years with the brand of this year.
In an official statement, she stated, "Arvind is the right CEO for the next era at IBM".
Krishna further stated, "I am thrilled and humbled to be elected as the next Chief Executive Officer of IBM, and appreciate the confidence that Ginni and the Board have placed in me," Mr Krishna said in a press statement released by IBM.
