Job applications these days often boil down to ChatGPT-crafted resumes and a quick click on LinkedIn's "apply" button. But in a sea of sameness, a few candidates stand out by going the extra mile¡ªand they often get noticed. Recently, a Swiggy executive shared a refreshing example: a job seeker¡¯s unique, ¡°old-school¡± approach that truly impressed him and made a memorable impact.
A recent story from Swiggy¡¯s design head in Bengaluru shows just how impactful a thoughtful, personal touch can be.?
Instead of the usual online application, a young designer sent a handwritten letter to Prakash, Swiggy¡¯s Assistant Vice President of Design, sparking real interest.?
Sharing the moment on X, Prakash, an IIT Madras alum, wrote, ¡°Received a physical letter from a designer wanting to join @Swiggy with a concept. In a digital age, this old-school approach stood out.¡±
"I would love to have the opportunity to present it to you and the team if given the chance," the applicant wrote, adding an earnest request for a single opportunity to show his work.
Though Swiggy currently has no openings in this area, Prakash was clearly impressed, using the social media platforms X and LinkedIn to address the applicant directly, ¡°We may not have a role now, but please email me¡ªI¡¯d love to see your idea!¡±
He even added a job appeal for him: ¡°If anyone knows of design openings, please share!¡±
Well, clearly, sometimes, a little ¡®old school¡¯ charm goes a long way!??
