After ruining the Instagram experience by providing user-specific results through its algorithms in 2016, Instagram's head Adam Mosseri has announced that the world's favourite photo app is brining back the chronological feed.
During a Senate subcommittee hearing on Wednesday, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said that the company is working on a version of Instagram feed that would show contents in the chronological order, as the app used to for the longest time.
Bye bye user preference! Since 2016, Instagram has used artificial intelligence to display posts based on user preferences. Users have been demanding a return to its roots ever since the feed mechanism was changed.
Meta, Facebook and Instagram's parent company is currently in the spotlight for its alleged inaction in terms of hate speech, harmful content, and the safety of kids on its pool of platforms.

In regards to this, Mosseri also suggested the creation of an "industry body" to find the most optimum ways in which children's data can be used on social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram.
According to The Verge, the idea was shot down by Senator Richard Blumenthal, who said that "the time for self-policing is over." To be fair, Instagram and Facebook with Mark Zuckerberg at the helm have had years to make amends to its policies, but not much has changed in terms of user safety.
