After a ton of waiting and hints, we Apple has finally gone ahead and revealed the date for the launch of its upcoming iPhones -- October 13.?
However, the leak trail has already given us some idea of what we can expect the upcoming iPhones to look like, and the features they could be loaded with. Here¡¯s everything we know so far about the iPhone 12¡¯s.
Leaksters have been hinting that this year we could see four new iPhones. The current line up is expected to include the regular iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, just like last year, however, with these devices, Apple is expected to launch an even smaller iPhone 12 Mini featuring a 5.4-inch edge to edge display. To put things into perspective, the regular iPhone 12 and the 12 Pro are expected to get a 6.1-inch panel whereas the iPhone 12 Pro Max will get a 6.7-inch panel.?
One thing that¡¯s going to be cool is that all the models -- from the budget iPhone 12 mini to the premium iPhone 12 Pro Max -- all will get an OLED Retina display. Some rumours have hinted that the screens will feature a 120Hz Pro-Motion panel like the iPads (something even budget Android phones feature these days), however, the chances of that happening are bleak at best.?
Mockup of the iPhones has shown us that the iPhone 12 will go back to a flat edge that we¡¯ve seen on iPhone 4¡¯s and 5¡¯s in the past -- also on the iPad Pro when it first came out in 2018. Moreover, it looks like the devices are going to be a whole lot sleeker (roughly 10 percent thinner as reported by 9to5Mac) and lighter than the current iPhones.?
iPhone 12s are expected to be running on Apple¡¯s latest and greatest A14 Bionic processor. In case you thought you¡¯ve heard of this processor before, you¡¯re not wrong. The CPU was first featured in the new iPad Pros that we got to see this year in April. The processor has six cores with a base frequency of 2.99GHz and 3.66GB of memory, although this configuration could be tweaked a little for its phones.?
In the camera department, a major upgrade from Apple isn¡¯t expected. The iPhone12 Mini and the regular iPhone 12 will get a dual-camera setup -- probably the same 12-megapixel standard and ultra-wide shooter. The iPhone 12 Pros are expected to get a third telephoto shooter as well as a fourth ToF or Time Of Flight shooter that offers better focusing and depth for capturing portraits.?
Leaks have already told new buyers to not expect a charging brick and Earpods in the box to curb accumulation of e-waste. We also saw this happen with the newly launched Apple Watch Series 6.?
The iPhone 12 Mini is also expected to be the cheapest iPhone 12 in the line up starting at a price tag of $699 (Around Rs 50,000) for the 64GB variant. Apple iPhone 12 is expected to start at a price point of $749 (around Rs 55,000) for the 64GB variant whereas the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max is expected to start at $999 (approximately Rs 72,000) and $1099 (approximately Rs 81,000) respectively.?
