Schools during our era introduced us to computers so that we get used to the tech-savvy world at a very early age.
However, nowadays with tech getting so easily accessible to kids in the form of smartphones and PCs, their life experience is far superior to our minor dabbling with computers. And now?schools are taking this to the next level.?
Schools in Bengaluru are introducing robotics classes for kids, and they seem to truly love them. Several institutions have set up classes for students from classes 1 to 9.?
The school laboratories are equipped with computers that teach coding as well as robotic kits that includes a CPU, sensors, as well as building blocks to form a structure and can be used to designate different tasks.
Arpita Tripathi, head mistress-secondary, Whitefield Global School said in a statement to TOI, ¡°In the lab, students build and code their robots. They learn how to build and code the scientific Mars rover, industrial robotic arm, line-following robots. Kids are also introduced to humanoid robots. Students are able to build, code and learn science and maths concepts effortlessly through the hands-on approach to learning. In fact, students are even learning the fundamentals of AI in the lab.¡±
These robotics classes not just help kids learn to code and apply skills to make their robots work, but they aid in improving critical thinking and grooms them to work together in a team.?
Pankaj Kumar Chaudhary, head of computer science at Bethany High said in a statement to TOI, ¡°Students cannot complete a task alone, so they do it in groups. This enhances their collaborative skills and teamwork. Students pick up coding faster when they have hands-on experiences like this,¡± At Bethany High, kids from grade 2-5 are learning robotics as an afterschool class with the help of Lego Mindstorms EV3.
Exposing kids to the world of tech through a fun way at an early age would not only help them decide a career path they like but also get better at it with more practice and knowledge. We wish other schools across the country introduce such fun and helpful subjects in the kids¡¯ curriculum to prepare them well for the tech-world of the future.?
