Twitter recently did the unthinkable by imposing a rate limit on Twitter users. Essentially, now users on Twitter cannot interact with the site after viewing a certain number of Tweets.
Verified users (paid subscribers) can now view a maximum of 6,000 Tweets daily while unverified users can only view 600 posts everyday. Naturally, this left users confused, given how abruptly it was rolled out.
Turns out, users weren't the only ones confused by this rate limit. It appears that employees were also left in the dark about this rate limit. According to Business Insider, Twitter employees were forced to work overtime during the ongoing July 4 holiday in the US.
The new change was not communicated to employee by Elon Musk or new CEO Linda Yaccarino. It seems that Twitter's sales and advertising teams were also not informed of the rate limit and how it would affect ads on the social media platform.
Chris Riedy, Twitter's vice president of global sales and marketing told the sales team that these rate limits were being imposed to fight 'spam and bots' and would be removed in the next few days.

Even then, such abrasive tactics could degrade the user experience on Twitter, and many long-term users aren't happy with the rate limit. Could this be another ploy to force users to subscribe to Twitter Blue? We can't know for sure.
But since Musk's takeover, Twitter's engineering team has been reduced from 3,500 to 500. Currently, the company seems to be struggling to maintain technical stability. And this rate limit could impact the company's ad business, considering the fact that fewer users could be viewing the ads now.
