WhatsApp is getting new features! Communities will begin rolling out to WhatsApp users today and will be available to everyone over the course of next few months, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced today.
Besides Communities, WhatsApp has more features in store for users. As for Communities, WhatsApp claims that it's a "major update to how people will be able to connect on WhatsApp in the groups that matter to them."
"Communities like neighborhoods, parents at a school, and workplaces can now connect multiple groups together under one umbrella to organize group conversations on WhatsApp," a press release seen by Indiatimes stated.
?¡°Today we're launching Communities on?WhatsApp. It makes groups better by enabling sub-groups, multiple threads, announcement channels, and more. We're also rolling out polls and 32 person video calling too. All secured by end to end encryption so your messages stay private," said?Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO, Meta.??
To use Communities, WhatsApp users can tap on the new communities tab at the top of their chats on Android and at the bottom on iOS. Users can then start a new Community or add existing groups.

Within a community, users can switch between available groups, and admins can send updates to everyone in the Community. WhatsApp claims that Communities can raise the bar for how organisations communicate, adding that this "level of privacy and security isn't found anywhere else."
Three more features were added to WhatsApp today, including the ability to create in-chat polls, video calling for up to 32 people, ?and groups with up to 1024 users. The company claims that these features will be especially useful within Communities.

So far, WhatsApp has worked with 50 organisations in 15 countries to see how Communities can help organisations reach their goals.
