In 2018, WhatsApp rolled out a feature that was nothing short of a godsend for many users -- the ability to delete a sent message.
The feature however came with some limitations -- it would flag the message as ¡®Deleted¡¯ on the chat and it only allowed the users around an hour before they could delete it forever.
However, now WhatsApp is looking to ease this barrier a little, by extending the timeline for deleting the message from around 68 minutes to two whole days.?
This was revealed by WhatsApp¡¯s Twitter handle. The tweet stated, ¡°Rethinking your message? Now you¡¯ll have a little over 2 days -- two days and twelve hours to be exact -- to delete your messages from your chats after you hit send.¡±
Surprisingly, WhatsApp¡¯s FAQ section still shows the time limit to be ¡®about an hour¡¯ to delete messages for everyone.?
The feature was spotted to be in the works a few weeks ago by beta WhatsApp features tipster WABetaInfo, and what¡¯s surprising is that it didn¡¯t take that long for it to be rolled out to the stable version.?
People on Twitter are reacting in their unique way.
While many really hate the fact that the label for deleted messages still exists
The feature works the same way it did earlier -- simply long pressing on the message will give you an option of deleting the message, where you can further select if you wish to delete the message just for yourself or for everyone.?
However, there are some caveats to keep in mind. Firstly, all the users must be on the newest WhatsApp version for the feature to work for you as well as for them. Also, even though you delete the message, chances are that the user has probably already read the message in the notifications.
