In case you didn¡¯t know, comet Neowise is on its way back from the sun to our solar system and is passing by Earth in the entire month of July.?
And it¡¯s also closer than expected, basically meaning, people are able to see the magnificent comet Neowise without requiring any telescopes.?
Being able to watch?Comet Neowise, which won't be visible for another 7000 years, is truly a rare sight from anywhere on the earth.
However, even the best location you choose on Earth, it¡¯s nothing compared to watching Comet Neowise from space -- aboard the International Space Station.?
Astronaut Bob Behnken who recently arrived on the ISS aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft, along with his colleagues recorded hundreds of long-exposure images of the comet and one UK based artist that goes by the name of Sean Doran got them from NASA¡¯s image archive, and fused them together in a breathtaking 4K timelapse.
Astronaut Doran said in a statement to Business Insider, that the 7-minute long video consists of 550 long-exposure images with Comet Neowise visible. He later interpolated the images to fill in frames and made the sequence seamless offering the picturesque scenery.
The video shows the journey on the ISS as it moves from night into the day when the sun is still hidden behind the Earth.
As the ISS moves further and the sun¡¯s light becomes visible, you see the comet Neowise on the horizon too. Later this scene is blinded by the sun¡¯s overexposure, but definitely a mesmerizing experience that you can enjoy on a good 4K screen at your place.?
Neowise (also referred to as C/2020 F3) was first discovered on March 27, 2020, with the help of NEOWISE space telescope which is located around 525 kilometres above the Earth¡¯s surface.
Earth will have the closest encounter with the beautiful Comet Neowise on July 23 and it will truly be a sight to behold if it manages to maintain the same level of brightness and intensity. The comet is also expected to rise a little higher in the sky during this time.
