Remember that dog robot from Boston Dynamics? The one that can open doors on it¡¯s own, fight back against cruel oppressors, navigate around your house and even climb stairs? Yeah, you could probably buy it soon.
Boston Dynamics is apparently planning to sell the SpotMini robot to the public in 2019. At a TechCrunch event, the company said the SpotMini is currently in pre-production and is being prepped for commercial sales next year. The company¡¯s founder, Marc Raibert, believes the robot could have applications in the workplace, and maybe even in homes soon too. After all, why leave the couch for a beer, when your dog robot can fetch on for you?
Manufacturers are building the first 100 SpotMini units later this year for commercial purposes, and then will increase production scale in 2019. There¡¯s no mention of how much it¡¯ll cost yet, but I¡¯m sure you could do without a kidney right? I mean, why would you want two of those when you could have a personal dog-butler?
