For the past year, the beef between both singers has been dominating the headlines, while during a hosting gig at the Oscars Awards 2025, Conan O＊Brien brought out the topic on the stage.?
During the hosting gig, Conan O＊Brien mentioned the back-and-forth between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.?O＊Brien said, "We＊re halfway through the show, which means it＊s time for Kendrick Lamar to come out and call Drake a pedophile."
Taking a beat and cracking a smile, he went on to mention that "Don't worry, I'm lawyered up."
By cracking this joke, O＊Brien was trying to refer to Kendrick's recent performance during the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which took place in February.?
During the show, Kendrick Lamar performed his smash hit "Not like Us", which turned out to be the conclusion of the diss tracks between both rappers. Moreover, Lamar's song, ※Certified Lover Boy? Certified Pedophile,§ was a reference to Drake's album of the same name.
After the song was released, Drake filed a suit against the Universal Music Group. He accused them of defamation and harassment, spreading a false narrative that he is a pedophile via the song 'Not like Us'.?
The Canadian rapper Drake and the American rapper Kendrick Lamar have been involved in a rap feud since 2013, but the beef between the duo escalated in 2024.?
According to a USA Today report, in 2023, rapper J. Cole and rapper Drake released a collab track called "First Person Shooter," in which Cole rapped that he, Drake, and Lamar were the 'big three' of rap music.
To which Lamar fired back, distancing himself from the trio, and said, 'Forget the big three; it's just big me,' apparently referring to Drake.?
