A young band of Bengaluru boys, who were out on the streets shaking a leg on Onam, now find themselves in a soup after their dancing gig has attracted attention, for all the wrong reasons. The bunch, which calls themselves the ¡®Malabari Boys¡¯ on Instagram, decided to get in the festive mode and recorded a video on a busy road in Bangalore.
The roadside event, which coincided with Onam, has kicked up a storm with the residents of the area urging the city police to take action against the youth for blocking traffic, and leading to subsequent crawls.
An Instagram user named Dil Shad on Wednesday posted a video in which a bunch of dhoti-clad guys are seen grooving at a busy traffic signal in Bengaluru. The bunch danced for a "viral reel" while vehicles waited at the signal. Shad shared the video, and captioned it saying "Malabari boys from the south side."
The video garnered more than seven million views - and counting - within a day and despite receiving more than 600,000 likes on Instagram, it has now sparked worry among residents in the midst of worsening traffic congestion in the digital capital.
A user named Raj Mina tagged the Bengaluru police and stated that if such an act had been committed by the city¡¯s auto drivers, the latter would have found themselves behind bars.
¡°Police should take straight action against them and put them into cell for doing this.¡±
The user also went on to question the cops and their ineptitude in allowing a group of people to block the road while other citizens faced inconvenience. Soon others joined the chorus, and expressed their grievance at this flouting of civic rules.
But not all were angry with the dancing lads! A few users on Instagram showed solidarity and clarified that they were only doing the dance when the traffic signal became red. One even asked citizens to relax a bit, and dismissed that the shoot had led to any traffic bottleneck.
Another lamented that people, generally, are low on patience while defending the young ones. ¡°Well, I don't see the traffic being blocked. The boys utilised the red signal to showcase, "I don't see any fault.¡±
Those who are sensible can see that the signal is red. The commenter further enquired if individuals trapped in traffic would have waited for the group to finish the dance, especially in Bengaluru, and if they think so, they are stupid.
However, this is not the first instance that someone has danced on the road for a clip and gone viral. Shreya Kalra, an influencer, was spotted three years ago dancing to Doja Cat's viral song "Woman" at an Indore zebra crossing. She went viral as netizens started to troll her for dancing on a busy road.? ?
