Indie-pop band Cigarettes After Sex, who were set to perform in Bengaluru at Bhartiya Mall on Tuesday (January 28), canceled their show just hours before it was set to take place, leaving fans disappointed and frustrated. Fans, who had been eagerly awaiting the concert as part of the group's ongoing world tour, were left heartbroken, especially after many had already gathered at the venue.
The band members Greg Gonzalez (bandleader), Randall Miller (bass) and Jacob Tomsky (drums) performed in Delhi-NCR on January 24 and Mumbai on January 25. However, the Bengaluru show marked the only cancellation, leaving fans in the city disappointed.
According to their post shared on their Instagram Story, the band cited "local production issues" as the reason behind the sudden cancellation. They offered an apology to fans for the inconvenience.?
"We're heartbroken to announce that due to technical difficulties, which were the responsibility of local production at the venue and beyond our control, we¡¯re unable to perform and unfortunately have to cancel tonight¡¯s show in Bengaluru. We¡¯re so incredibly sorry we can¡¯t see you all tonight and truly tried everything we could to make it happen," they wrote.?
The cancellation left many fans disappointed, with many taking to social media to express their frustration. Some questioned how Bengaluru was not equipped to host such an event, suggesting that the concert could have been relocated to Ahmedabad.?
One fan wrote under the band's post on X (formerly Twitter), "Shift the venue to Ahmedabad".?
Others criticized the lack of communication from the ticketing platform, BookMyShow, with one user pointing out that no emails or messages were sent to concertgoers to inform them of the cancellation in advance.?
Despite the setback, Cigarettes After Sex assured fans that refunds would be offered through the ticketing app. "BookMyShow will reach out to you with information on refunds for the show as well. Love you so much," the statement added.
