Vande Bharat express or Train 18, India¡¯s first engineless and the fastest train has reduced its fares before its very first run. The Delhi-Varanasi fare for AC chair car has come down to Rs 1,760 from the initial Rs 1,850, and the executive class fares have reduced to Rs 3,310, from Rs 3,520, an official order said.
However, there would be no more concessions on tickets including senior citizen discount that is offered on other trains, the railway order said.
On return the ticket for chair car would be Rs 1,700 and the executive chair car will be Rs 3,260. The fares also include the catering service charges.
Train 18 will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15 and its first commercial run will be on February 17. On the day of the commercial run, it will leave Delhi at 6 PM and reach Varanasi at 2 PM and on the return journey it will leave Varanasi at 3 PM and reach Delhi at 11 PM, according to the official order.??
The train will run on all days except Monday and Thursday. ¡°We wanted to ensure higher affordability and make it a compelling proposition, so we decided to reduce the fares,¡± a senior railway official said.
