More than a million Ukrainians have fled from their own country after Russia invaded it. One among them was an 11-year-old boy who fled the country all alone with just a phone number written on his hand.?
This boy named?Hassan Piseck¨¢ made headlines earlier by travelling all the way to Slovakia from the city of Zaporizhzhia, where Russian forces captured a nuclear power facility.?
The Independent?reported that the boy, with a backpack, his mother's note and a telephone number written on his hand, travelled 1,000km to safety. His parents stayed back in Ukraine to care for their sick relative.?
However, now his mother?J¨²lia Piseck¨¢ has finally been able to flee Ukraine and reunite with Hassan and his four siblings.?
His mother, who is a widow told The Sun,?¡°The train ride was very difficult. Hundreds were crammed in a single car. But we had to escape so our family could be back together. I¡¯d like to thank everyone from my heart. We have to start from scratch. We lost everything we¡¯ve had but we¡¯re healthy.¡±
Hassan had won the hearts of everyone at the border with his smile, and hailed him as "a true hero."?Using the number and a note tied to his waist, they managed to contact his family in Slovakia and he was reunited with his four siblings.
He was sent to Slovakia on a train to find the rest of his family members. When the boy had reached Slovakia, He spoke to Good Morning Britain, he said that he 'isn't thinking about the future' and is happy to be 'safe'.
His sister translated for Hassan, saying: ¡°He says the most important is to be in the place where he has family. ¡°He likes this city because it's safe. He doesn't know about the future because he doesn't know about the situation in Ukraine. He is not thinking about the future, he just wants to be with us.¡±
However, the tough part for Hassan was travelling all the way to Slovakia alone in a train that was packed. It was scary for him since he couldn't understand anything.?
¡°The kids and the people were sitting in the hall and everyone was talking in foreign languages and he wasn't understanding so that was the scariest [part of the journey] for him.¡±?
Before this Hassan and his family fled Syria without his father. However, thankfully all of them are safe and together.?
