We have all heard of employees giving up sleep to get work sorted before a tight deadline. However, not many have had any experience with having to sell their family dog in order to satisfy their bosses. Well, if you worked at Utah-based digital marketing and tech company Clearlink, you might have had an inkling of an idea about the bizarre situation.
In a virtual town hall last week, James Clarke, Clearlink CEO, addressed his employees. A clip from his address is now going viral on social media as people question the working conditions of the company. In the clip, the CEO celebrates an employee who had to sell their family dog in order to return to work.?
In his speech, the CEO talked about how some?employees?of the company were shedding their "blood, sweat, and tears," to dedicate themselves to work. "I learned from one of our leaders that in the midst of hearing this message, went out and sold their family?dog?which breaks my heart," Clarke shared as he began to brag about past achievements as the "head of the humanization of pets movement."
He then added, "Truly those are the sacrifices that are being made and I honor you for those sacrifices and what is taking place here." For those unfamiliar, Clarke started his company back in 2001 and has expanded his team a lot in the last two decades.

However, during his town hall address, Clarke weirdly challenged his employees, saying, "ThereĄ¯s not one of you here, and I challenge any one of you to outwork me, and you wonĄ¯t." He continued, "IĄ¯m all in on what weĄ¯re doing here at Clearlink, and I want you to know it and feel it because this is what we do, and IĄ¯ve sacrificed, and those of you that are here have sacrificed greatly to be here as well, to be away from your family."
The video faced incredible flak online as people were outraged about the CEOĄ¯s inappropriate speech to his employees.
