Elderly women can do a lot more than just nurture and care for the young. They can stop crime from happening as well.?
That's what happened when an elderly woman single-handedly stopped an alleged shoplifter at a Walmart in Campbell River in British Columbia, Canada.?
This woman named Elaine Gallaway is being lauded on social media after a video of her pulling off the man's mask so he could be identified on camera went viral.?She informed a Walmart employee about the man and was assured that the security would be alerted to the situation.?
The video was posted on Twitter by The Daily Sneed where and the caption was "Grandma tries to stop a shoplifter."
In the video, the man taking the video asked the shoplifter if he will pay for that? Then the shoplifter replied with a 'yes' but continued marching towards the exit gate.?
"As the man in the ski mask was trying to exit, an older woman yelled at him and ripped off his ski mask revealing his face to the camera." The man said this while trying pull the cart from the shoplifter.?
According to reports, the grandma said, "When he pushed me, that was a boiling point." She added, "It was just a coincidence, and because I sort of already knew that he was a shoplifter, I think my gut instinct was, you¡¯re not going to get away with this."
The woman said that she had noted that the shoplifter had one hand on his cart and one hand on the bicycle, so he had no quick access to weapons.
One user said, "Now that¡¯s what I like to see, most of these people only steal because nobody confronts them. That old lady and the guy are outstanding citizens."Another wrote, "God bless this grandma. She¡¯s much braver than most young people."
